Big items need to go away

Post  sandieson on Mon Aug 20, 2012 6:43 pm

Hi there,

I have two spring boxes need to give/throw away (1 queen, 1 twin).

Even though we live in the complex, but do we have the city benefit come pick up the big item(s)?

If not, anyone has other options to suggest?

thanks
Sandy

Large Item Disposal

Post  trebor on Tue Aug 21, 2012 12:40 am

You can wait and see if a Board member sees your post but Peachtree should be able to answer the question. To my knowledge there is no arrangement through the city of San Jose for large item pickup unless it is approved by the Board and then Peachtree makes the arrangements. Peachtree may tell you different but I believe you are on your own to make arrangements for disposal of any large item that is not serviced by the twice weekly pick-up service.

ATD is the company that gets the bins out for pick up and back into the refuse area. They may be a resource to make arrangements to have your large items disposed of. You might want to check with the Salvation Army and Goodwill used to take mattresses but no pick-up.

I also have one sofa that needs to go. I called city of San Jose garbage service. They charge $57.40 for 3 large items including couch, matress and boxes. Since I only have one item, I am wondering if anyone else would be interested to share the load and cost. Please PM me if you are interested. You can go on city's website to check pricing.
