Carpet update
In last nights meeting we heard that the carpet materials have come in. That means work will start in a couple of weeks. We should be seeing notices from the vendor with the installation schedule soon.
Re: Carpet update
The installation has started and building 450 is complete! I wish they would post notices and a schedule....
Re: Carpet update
The installer started on building 460and will complete it tomorrow. They will then begin work on 470 and continue in a counter clockwise direction around the complex. They said they will provide me with a schedule tomorrow, so I can post it here.
One thing worth mentioning, please remove any personal items from the hallways. The vendor mentioned to me that on one residents landing there were bags full of pellets for a stove?? Not sure why a resident would keep anything in a common area but to keep something like that sounds pretty idiotic. If it's you, get rid of it, you can't even use that on the deck, so why would you store it in the common area.

Re: Carpet update
Here's what I received from the vendor in terms of schedule.
"The schedule for villagio is as follows:bldg 450,460,470,475 are complete and all but the two facing
milan dr in445 are done.Tues.9/6 they will finish 445 and 435,then moving around the outside of the
complex first doing eight sets a day finishing up in the center three buildings!!!!"
For those who had their carpet replaced, you probably noticed that in some spots there is a gap between the new carpet and the new paint job - revealing the old paint. I've expressed my opinion to Peachtree that this is unacceptable and that we'll need to do something about it.
Please let me know if your hallways have gaps also...I'm assuming they all will but I'll take a tour once the carpet vendor is completely done.

This is a result of inexperience, poor planning, or disregard. Carpet should have been done first, then paint. One only does paint first with new construction or at the same time with carpet, when the floors are bare. They will need to be touched up. That too will stand out some, but better than a gap of different color.

Carpet Schedule Notice?
Would it be possible to post a carpet change schedule on the mailbox flyer thing?
In the past when we've had window washings, carpet cleanings and other things it was nice to have these put up as reminders. I just happened to be going to work late today and had the carpet guy knock on my door and ask me to move my shoes inside. Had I known earlier I would have made sure to bring my things inside.
I understand that the tentative schedule was posted here on the forums, but not everyone checks these regularly. Thanks!
Btw - to update the status, they've started on building 410 this week.

Re: Carpet update
Building 425...plenty of gaps in the new paint, a few casualty nicks and dings, but way better than that old smelly dirty stuff.

Re: Carpet update
Thanks for the updates!
I don't get any dizzyness but I do think that the pattern will help hide those little pods.

New Carpet - Padding?
The carpeting is completed at 445 Milan. The old carpet had a layer of padding underneath. Did we pay for padding or was the installer suppose to reuse the original padding? Their is no padding underneath the carpet and not the corridor echos when you walk on it. The carpet was not stretched either so there are "air bubbles" when you walk on it so it someone could trip on it. The carpet company also left a large oil stain from there van that runs out of the courtyard.

Are you absolutely sure there is no padding? Did you see them put the carpet down with no padding underneath? The reason why I ask is because I thought the same thing initially until the vendor showed me the padding. It's looks to be slightly less than an inch thick but gets compressed by the carpet. It is not as plush as the old combination of padding and carpet so it doesn't feel the same but I was assured by the vendor that there is in fact padding. Keep in mind that this carpet and padding is commercial grade and not the typical home carpet and padding, so it doesn't feel as soft/plush.
As for the air bubbles, that is not acceptable. What unit is this?
Re: Carpet update
I had to bring my dog to work and I got home early since it's a 3 day weekend and they were still laying the carpet down. There is no padding underneath the carpet. Their is nothing between the carpet and the wood. The unit is 221/121.
If they do more work on the carpet, I want to be notified so that I can make arrangements so my dog is not at home.

So please forgive me because I've seen a few residents cry bloody murder on something only to turn out to be wrong but they swear they were right. I can't tell via an anonymous posting how credible you are. I'll send you a PM so we can perhaps meet and you can show me the air pockets and we can compare installs with other hallways.
