Water heater issues Empty Water heater issues

Over the past couple of weeks, my pilot light dies on my water heater. I was thinking it may have been due to possible gas cutoffs due to the construction and wonder if anyone else has experienced it. If not, can someone recommend a plumber who can repair such beasts.

No issues for me in building 475. What building are you in? For some reason I doubt it has anything to do with the construction. Is your hot water heater original? There have been cases where the old heater would flood the garages. I had the home warranty on my place and when it just started to leak slowly I had it replaced by Just Water Heaters. I only had to pay the deductible.

I had a similar pilot light issue on a newer 50 gal Apollo replacement water heater. It turned out to be a faulty thermocoupler. A replacement thermocoupler kit from the hardware store was about $5. However, in order to replace the thermocoupler you have to remove the burner assembly. Here is the procedure for a different water heater but it is similar to what I did.

I had that problem last year, but was able to fix it by replacing the pressure relief valve. Cost around $10, IIRC.

No problems with the pilot light going out, at any rate.
