Help with Apollo Hydro Heater Empty Help with Apollo Hydro Heater

Post  Dave Fri Jan 22, 2010 8:49 pm

Our house heater is only blowing cold air. I know that it pumps water from the water heater in and out of the air handler, but it's not working.

I called Apollo (the manufacture) back east and they gave me Clarified Water Plumbing as a specialist, but they were just out here and have no clue on how to work on this system.

Has anyone else had a problem with heat? If so, what was the fix and who did you use. Any information will greatly appreciated !

Thanks so much for reading this. I hate being cold!

are you still using the original water heater? Have you purged the system? I had a new one installed and the performance is better but was told to purge the system at least once a year to get ride of buildup.

I'm not around so I can't show you but perhaps someone else can. Not sure if that will help but its free... scratch

Help with Apollo Hydro Heater Empty water heater/furnace/air condition.

Hi Dave,

I think I can help you. Your water heater has two lower yellow handles on the pipes coming from your water heater. Just turn them in the up or down position from where they are now. That should do the job. When summer comes change the handles back to where they are now. If you have a problem and don't want to do it I will come over to your unit and show you. Every summer and every winter you have to change the handles up or down to get heat or cold air. Let me know how it turns out.

Help with Apollo Hydro Heater Empty flushing air

Post  john Mon Feb 01, 2010 1:14 pm

In my unit, both yellow levers of water heater are in the up(vertical) positions to allow water into and out of the water coil of the space heating unit. Moving the levers to down(horizontal) positions trap the water in the loop. If air gets into the loop, you must flush the air out as follows:
1. make sure levers are vertical.
2. make sure cold water inlet to water heater is open(water supply is not shut down from water heater)
3. connect water hose to loop water outlet next to the upper yellow lever(at least in my unit)
4. open loop water outlet wide to flush air. note that the loop must be completely free of air for the loop to work. it helps to turn on space heating unit, but i don't think it is necessary.

Once flushed, test out the system by turning on heat in home, and feel hot water leaving from the top pipe of the loop, and returning not as hot to the bottom pipe of the loop.
