Incident at building 410 - We need help!
We've had an incident in the courtyard of building 410 Milan. A visitor or resident hit the entrance to one of the units.
An initial estimate is at $5,000 and unless we track down who did it, we will all be paying for it. Our insurance policy has a $10K deductible. A police report is being filed and we are looking for witnesses.
If anyone saw anything or heard anything please let us know. Perhaps someone received a delivery on Tuesday of this week (we believe that's when it happened) that required a home delivery?? We will go after the vendor to recuperate our costs.

Well...no luck finding out what happened or who caused it. Looks like the HOA will be eating the cost. We've received several bids and approved the work order.

Hello,
I just signed onto this forum today. So sorry this is late and not sure if it will help. In January, not sure of the date. I was home and heard a sound like the back of a truck letting down it door, like on furniture, appliance trucks have. It was a loud metal bang sound. I thought someone must be moving in new furniture. I happened to see outside the window a minute later and saw a FedEx truck pulling out. So I thought, "that's the truck that made the sound", and didn't give it a second thought. It wasn't until the next day that I saw the damage done to the stucco porch. I mentioned it to the owners, but I never got a license number of the truck and wasn't sure it did it. It was pulling out of the building courtyard, but I didn't see anything happen, just heard it. I didn't even see the damage at that time. So, if anyone received a delivery on that date, maybe they heard it too.

Hi,
Thanks for the information. How sure do you feel that it was the Fedex truck?
I'll pass along this information to Peachtree and ask them to follow up but chances are we probably won't be able to recover the costs.

The reason I thought it might have been the FedEx truck was that after I heard the sound a minute or so later I happened to be in my kitchen and could see the courtyard. I saw the truck driving out. The sound I heard was really loud earlier. Like I said, many of the residents have lately gotten new furniture/appliances and when they let the back of truck down or close doors you hear a loud sound. This did sound louder, but like I said I didn't see it. When I saw the damage to the building the next day, I thought maybe a car had hit it. When I asked the owner, he said, that the area was too much for a car to do and he didn't know who did it. I mentioned to him about the FedEx and he said that FedEx is resposible and probably would let them know if they did it. Yet, the damage was high up, like a truck could do. Personally, in the economy, if a FedEx driver hit something and thought no one saw, he might just drive away for fear of losing a job. I'm not saying that's what happened, but I could see them doing that. I thought if you knew of anyone in the building, probably courtyard that got packages that day, maybe it could be investigated with tracking numbers, but they probably don't keep. I didn't see any other trucks that day. I only have e-mail at work, so if any further questions, it may take me a few days to get back on e-mail. Also, in the future, other neighbors are often home during the day like unit 109 and 110. If I had seen a sign posted at the mail box, with a number to call, I would have responded sooner, and also they may have.
