What is the the HOA plan of action to resolve the mailbox theft?
I am going to start with first by apologizing for sounding angry and frustrated but frankly I am. I want to know why the HOA and Peachtree have not addressed the mailbox tampering and stolen mail? Why do we have original mailbox with 20-year-old technology and locks. Why hasn’t the HOA or Peachtree insisted the boxes be updated? I am tired of my mailbox being the local grocery store for id and credit cards.
To date the only concerned expressed by the board is to investigate why there was hold on mail delivery and why suddenly a name label was no longer on the box.
I am sorry there to hear there isn’t a name label on the box but let me list what’s missing from my mailbox
My Husbands ATM
1,000 from our checking account thanks to the ATM theft
The key to our alarm box that bay alarm mailed
380.00 of merchandise I ordered on line. Looks like someone got the delivery notice before I did.
My Drivers license renewal notice
A credit card statement
Yes we have filed a police report, yes I have contacted Peachtree I will even get a PO box, but I should not be required to take this option. Is it to much to ask that the HOA take action and responsibility to resolve the continued thefts. Isn’t that why we pay a monthly management fee? What other mail is missing that we don't know about. what about the other residents I am sure their is mail missing that some residents may not even be aware of.
I am more than willing to be part of the solution and to work with the HOA to resolve.

Re: What is the the HOA plan of action to resolve the mailbox theft?
Hi TD,
First let me say I'm sorry to hear that you had mail stolen. I can only imagine how frustrated you are.
Without trying to make any excuses please understand that the mail issue has come up fairly recently. The board has not even met together since the first posting. That being said, when it was posted it was and still is somewhat unclear how the thief got the mail. I was told that the post office was conducting an investigation and changed the main lock (which they did, because that is how they suspected the mailbox was open). There was no action required on our part according to the post office.
I believe we have a board meeting on the 9th, please come to the meeting and perhaps help us come up with an action plan.
I'd also like to say that the HOA aka board are just home owners just like everyone else, who volunteer their time. We (I) don't get paid for this, don't get special privileges and really hate being lumped into the "they are part of the problem". I've always said, I am more than happy to step down and let another person take my place on the board.

Tom,
Thanks for the post, I am glad to hear the main lock to the mailbox's have been changed. I will certainly try to attend the board meeting. Perhaps as a community we can come up with a realistic plan to eliminate the recent thefts in our neighborhood.
Thanks for listening, responding and investigating I really appreciate your efforts.
