Pool update
Hi Everyone!
Now that the weather has finally turned around, I'm sure people have questions about when the pool will be open.
As some of you may know, Congress passed a bill last year regarding public pools and spa's needed to be retrofitted with special pumps to prevent children from being sucked under water if the cover comes off. Local governments added additional rules around what constituted a proper retrofit - including pump type, model, etc. Of course local governments didn't come up with the actual criteria until mid December with the law going into effect on January 1st.
Well, we knew we would be changing pool and fountain vendors and decided that we didn't want to give the old vendor the $2K-3K project of retrofitting since we weren't happy with their work to begin with.
A&B Pool service has done the work but in another idiotic governmental action, the local agency responsible has figured out that they can make additional revenue by retroactively charging a permit fee. So now they are charging everyone (every owner of a public pool) $250 per body of water (so in our case $750) for the permit and then inspection. This new additional step has created a backlog of applications and inspections. So we are now in a holding pattern waiting for the inspection.
What does this mean to you? Well, technically the pool and spa's are closed and we don't have a timeframe of when the inspection will take place.
I hate bureaucracy!

Re: Pool update
I have an update from peachtree.
Our pool vendor believes we will have our inspection around May 7th +/- a few days. It also means the pool and spa's will need to be closed down around that time for some final work. A notice will be posted by the mailboxes when we have more updated information.
