Air conditioning repair? Empty Air conditioning repair?

Post  spcutler Thu Apr 23, 2009 12:33 am

My air conditioning doesn't seem to work as well as it should, and makes hissing/gurgling noises (especially just after it's been shut off). I've got to assume that it just needs a Freon fillup, but I suppose it's best if an actual repairperson looked at it. Does Villagio have a company they usually go through, or does anyone have their own recommendations? Thanks.

I'm not aware of any specific AC vendors that we recommend. Perhaps some homeowners have some personal experience with someone they can recommend.

Also, remember about the valves on the hot water heater that need to be adjusted for AC versus heat. I still don't know what the right position is. I've tried every combination and the difference is not very dramatic.

Valves on the hot water heater? I only see some valves labeled hot and cold recirculation--nothing that says A/C. The recirculation is interesting in and of itself, though! I'm aware of recirculation systems but I wasn't aware that these condos had them. The valves are turned off on my condo--do you know if there's anything I need to do before enabling them? It takes a long time for me to get hot water in my top-story unit and a recirculation system would definitely fix that if it all works. Thanks!

I'm definitely not the expert on this but I recall from some conversations that the recirculating hot water is used by the AC/Heating system so the valves need to be switched depending on the season so the system can function as efficiently as possible. We need Jean Marlowe to see this thread, she was the one who knew about this.
